Wrappers very faintly rubbed. 2007 Large Softcover. vi, 142 pp. Held in the Skivington Library of the Wheatland Historical Association, Scottsville, New York. A small book, in its protective leather trimmed case, rests on the shelf of the Skivington Library of the Wheatland Historical Association in Scottsville, NY. The Gold-lettered title reads, The Diary of Mary Thorn : A Chili Quaker Girl: 1855-1856. George Skivington purchased the book about fifty years ago from a Finger Lakes area book dealer, and he added it to his collection of local history artifacts. In February of 2006 I embarked on a quest to learn more about Mary Thorn and to share her story. By carefully reading the diary I discovered a sincere, intelligent and lively young lady. By studying local historical resources I was able to fill in many details about Mary Thorn, her family and friends, and their way of life. The thorns arrived in the Wheatland/Chili NY area from Saratoga. The Thorns were related to the Cox family from Dutchess County, NY.--Preface
