This volume was acquired from the personal collection of Julian Street, Jr., whose wife Hella owned quite a few books by Marius Barbeau, several with notes from the author to her, indicating the two were either good friends or colleagues who worked closely together. 1942 Stapled Binding. A brief study of the career of Jean-Baptiste Côté, who worked as a figure-head carver. Illustrated with black-and-white photographs of Cote's works, and woodcut illustrations. Barbeau, considered the founder of Canadian anthropology, was a Rhodes Scholar and advocate of the preservation and celebration of the traditions of native peoples.
