In between these dates 75 convoys fought through terrible seas and the severest weather conditions. The 17th Flotilla of 0 class destroyers, products of the intermediate type 1st Emergency Flotilla Building Programme of 1939-42, sailed as covering forces or as close escorts to 44 convoys. The flotilla also had a representative role in the doomed convoy PQ17... The entire flotilla of eight destroyers survived the war... Includes black-and-white photographs.
