A biography of the 12-year-old boy who joined the 13th Regiment, N.Y.S.M. during the American Civil War, and was killed shortly after when a musket accidentally fired in Annapolis, Maryland. This tribute was published the year he died, and a statue commemorating his life and service stands in Brooklyn's Green-Wood Cemetery. Preceding the text is an introduction entitled A Call for Volunteers, entreating readers to enlist to support the war effort. Sabin 5455.
