Fourth edition. Edges rubbed & faintly stained with minor loss from front wrapper corner. Unclear whether this was issued as a softcover or hardcover originally - leather along spine with loss from head & foot. 1804 Soft Cover. 105, [3] pp. This is the fourth edition referenced in Hoolihan 3784, but (despite the title page) is missing the Wesley portion: The eight editions of Wilkins' Family adviser published between 1793 and 1833 attest to the book's enduring popularity, which was doubtless enhanced by the inclusion of John Wesley's Primitive physic in the first seven editions... Wilkins states that his book derived from the practice of several Scottish authors.
Title: The Family Adviser; or, A Plain and Modern Practice of Physic; Calculated for the Use of Families Who Have Not the Advantages of a Physician, and Accommodated to the Diseases of America. To which is Annexed, Mr. Wesley's Primitive Physic, Revised.
