Matted and ready for framing. Excellent examples of two fine engravings. 1809 Print. Matted to 8 1/4 x 10 3/8 each (mat measures 13 x 19 1/4). Both engravings were done by Letitia Byrne, well known for her work in the first half of the 19th century. Scotney Castle was a fortified house originally constructed in the late 14th century. The prints show the causeway leading to the main gate, as well as the rear of the structure which is surrounded by a large moat (more of a small lake). The eastern wall of this fortification is significant in that it was constructed in the Inigo Jones style - he was an important British architect in the first half of the 17th century, and is credited with importing Italian design influences to England.
