Two congressional reports about the American Civil War, discussing the Fort Pillow Massacre and returned prisoners. The former consisted of Nathan Bedford Forrest's massacre of Union troops (mainly African-American soldiers) who were attempting to surrender. The report on prisoners explains some of the cruel and inhumane treatment they endured during their captivity. Condition Notes: Boards and front and end matter stained, with light stains to a few text pages, edges rubbed.
