Boards and front and end matter stained, with light stains to a few text pages, edges rubbed. 1864 Hard Cover. 128; 34, [8] pp. Engraved images of prisoners follow text. Two congressional reports about the American Civil War, discussing the Fort Pillow Massacre and returned prisoners. The former consisted of Nathan Bedford Forrest's massacre of Union troops (mainly African-American soldiers) who were attempting to surrender. The report on prisoners explains some of the cruel and inhumane treatment they endured during their captivity.
