This edition, according to the preface 'has been carefully revised with reference to technical and scientific progress. The disturbance of the Paper-making Industry under the stress of war conditions [referring to World War I] has not changed the technical basis of the manufacture; certain features and incidents of the phase are, however, of permanent interest and illustrative of general principles.' Includes seventeen plates, a fold-out of a modern Fourdrinier machine, black-and-white illustrations and diagrams in text. Bibliography, index, and paper- and British printing-related advertisements follow text. Condition Notes: Boards rubbed and somewhat soiled, shallow chip from spine head. Binding tight and square, interior clean with pages only lightly toned.
